If there is any better way of letting your employees know how much you appreciate them, it is to cut their pay, make them pay more for benefits, and tell them they are going to have to work much longer. That is just what Jindal wanted to do but more rational thinking prevailed. What Jindal wanted to do was egregiously wrong. Jindal states that he has not increased taxes during his time as Governor. You can thank your civil servants for those lack of taxes since they are the ones that have been sacrificed for the betterment of the State. To further explain, past Louisiana Governors have borrowed from the State workers retirement system without repaying it. Now, Jindal is telling current State workers to increase their retirement contributions to pay it back. Also, Jindal has not allowed them to earn a pay increase in 2-3 years while health care along with everything else has increased yearly. If the average citizen does not see something wrong with that then they need to join Jindal's campaign. There may be some unnecessary State workers and programs but the vast majority provide a great service and earn their salaries just like everyone else.
